What does it feel like to be your authentic self? What does your authentic voice have to say? What does your authentic laugh sound like? Do you know? When was the last time you were fully and completely authentic?
Being authentic doesn’t necessarily come second nature to us. Unfortunately many of us shove our authentic voice, thoughts andScreen Shot 2014-08-29 at 8.40.49 AM actions to the side.
There is a huge fear that rides along with allowing your authentic self to shine. Fears of ‘what if they don’t like me? What if I don’t fit in? What if being my authentic self means being alone, because other’s won’t approve?’
These fears happen to everyone, including myself.
But what if you actually allowed each and every authentic part of you to show up? Have you tried it?
And what does it mean to stifle your authentic self?
To stifle your authenticity takes a huge amount of energy and work! Each time you stifle your authentic self you’re saying No to you! Ok- take that in. When you stifle your true self, you say no to you! Boo!
So that must mean being authentic means being 100% real to yourself? Wow! Imagine that- being totally honest and truthful to yourself. Being authentic means saying a big fat YES to you. Take a moment here to breathe that in. It’s totally weightless.
If you had to stifle your true authentic self to be accepted, do you really resonate with that person or group anyways? If a person truly accepted you, they would accept you for everything that was YOU; including any awesome quirks or weirdness you might have.
If each and every one of us allowed our authentic self to shine at all times, and if we each allowed our fears and ego mind to drop aside, can you imagine what the world would be like? Peaceful, loving, compassionate, nurturing and beautiful. All qualities that ooze authenticity.
Instead of being worried if you’re laugh is too loud, your thoughts will be judged or your voice will be condemned, try to see the opposite! What if your laugh was contagious, your thoughts were similar to others (or better yet gave a different and welcomed perspective) and the sound of your voice was similar to that of an Angel!
The really cool part too, is when you give yourself permission to be 100% authentic, you give that same permission to those around you. It’s that whole ripple effect that just rocks the world but it has to start within first.
Allow yourself to receive this gift of authenticity – ask what is really true to you in each moment and live it. You won’t be sorry.
