Limiting Beliefs about Not having Love and Acceptance

by | Oct 2, 2014 | Meditation

To think that you don’t have love and acceptance in your life is truly a limiting belief. Even though we’re individuals in our own rights, we have so much in common: the biggest is that we all just want to be loved, and not far behind that is acceptance- we all justScreen Shot 2014-10-02 at 5.09.39 PM want to be accepted for who we are. And I’d say possibly another commonality is most of us seek love and acceptance from others- it’s just something that we do subconsciously.

But have you ever considered giving love and acceptance to yourself?

During yoga last week as I was doing a Warrior pose, where we had our arms stretched out, one facing the back of the room, the other facing the front. The instructor said something that really resonated with me: she told us that our back arm was pointing to our past, to the things that happened a few seconds, minutes, days, months and years ago. ‘Let that be in the past’ she said….. She then described how our front arm was pointing towards the future. She asked us to think about what it was that we wanted our future to hold? What did we want to grab?

So, I asked myself ‘what is it that I want? What is my most inner desire?’ I totally thought it was going to be something like a foot rub (oh-how I wanted a foot rub. My feet were killing me!), but no- this little tiny voice inside said- love and acceptance of self.

As my legs shook from holding the pose, my heart soared as high as the sky, and tears came to my eyes as I breathed in this awareness!

Earlier this year I had a huge wake up call to start looking within for the deeper meaning of my life. I went through an experience that left me looking for a life preserver from the one person who couldn’t give it to me. And that my friends, was the moment where I became aware that only I could throw on my own life preserver.

Standing in this yoga pose knowing that I was moving towards self-love and acceptance felt beautiful, amazing and right. And I know that when something feels this good it’s a sign that you’re in alignment with who you truly are.

Love and acceptance truly starts from within first. I had a limiting belief that it was outside of me, that I had to get it from someone else. I made the huge mistake of believing that if I didn’t feel love and acceptance from others, than I wasn’t good enough or working hard enough to receive it.

As I have found, all you have to do is be gentle, kind and get out of your own way, and you will have everything that you need.

Just this morning I received a quote in my inbox from Abraham Hicks:

Find something to feel good about and get out of the way, and allow the cells to receive what they’ve been asking for. That is the key to healing.

As humans we have a tendency to overcomplicate things. If we just focus on what we want and how good it makes us feel, nothing can stop us. I want self love and acceptance and just the idea of having that makes me soar!

This doesn’t mean that every moment is perfect and filled with love and acceptance for myself. It means that now I have a way of getting to that place, where love and acceptance resides: within. It’s already inside of me I just need to shake, move, and get out of the way to allow love and acceptance into my life.

What do you need in order to get out of your own way? How is self love and acceptance showing up for you? Or is it? The limiting belief that this comes from others is so false! Why would you rely on someone else to breath for you when you can breath for yourself? You too, have everything in you that you need- you just gotta’ look for it and allow yourself to receive.
